Volunteer Front of House Reception / Administrator

Location: North-East based (Basis Gateshead or Sunderland)

Role description: Administrative / Reception Support

Basis are Oasis Community Housing’s drop in centre’s give practical help and advice to people in housing crisis or rough sleeping.   We welcome those who come through our doors with a warm drink, a bite to eat, and the offer of a hot shower and a place to wash their clothes. Most importantly we source emergency accommodation for people and get them plugged in to other local services that can help them on their journey to stability.

We are looking for a number of volunteers to support us at Basis, acting as front of house reception cover, welcoming those who come through our doors, chatting to them, answering phone calls, supporting the service and signposting people if you can. This will give you the opportunity to gain administrative skills and knowledge whilst providing support for a charity that helps some of the most vulnerable people in our society. You can, in turn, gain confidence, make a difference in people’s lives, learn new skills and meet new people as well as enjoy the volunteer experience!

We currently need support anytime between the hours 9am-5pm on Monday – Friday. Volunteers would usually regularly volunteer on the same day each week however we are flexible around whatever support you are able to provide.

You will need to complete a Volunteer Induction (2-3 hours training / induction) prior to commencing at our projects.  Any role will be subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS (dependent on role).
