We are seeking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Worker to join our organisation. Working closely with the Maintenance Team Leader you will be responsible for carrying out repairs as faults arise and respond effectively to maintenance matters which could impact the health and safety of the service users and/or staff. You will carry out internal and external decoration work and work with external contractors where necessary. Alongside the Maintenance Team Leader you will follow a cyclical maintenance programme covering all the organisation’s properties and work in line with the organisation’s Health and Safety procedures and HSE guidelines and with due regard to the Health and Safety of self and others. At times you will be expected to carry out basic plumbing and drainage issues and repair and replace ironmongery and other fixtures. Other duties may need to be carried out as needed by the Maintenance Team Leader.
It is expected that you will have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety and an NVQ in any maintenance would be preferred. A knowledge of PAT testing would be desirable however, training may be provided for the right candidate.
It is essential that you are able to carry out basic maintenance in the areas of plumbing, painting and decorating, gardening, basic joinery, and have the initiative to work alone. You must be a motivated individual with a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills. This role will involve travelling between our sites so a full clean driving licence is essential along with the ability to be flexible and able to respond to ongoing change. You will have the ability to interact with people from all backgrounds and a sympathy for the values and ethos of OCH.
